Welcome to BoPaRO!

Purpose
The Bossier Parish Recognition Organization is to recognize selected African Americans who have distinguished themselves in their society (dead or alive) but have roots in Bossier Parish. Having roots means they either were born in Bossier Parish, have lived at one time in Bossier Parish or have worked in Bossier Parish. Each of the five former black high schools in Bossier Parish [Irion, Martin, Mitchell, Princeton and Spikes] would be able to name/add annually three (3) deceased Pioneers and three (3) living legends (persons who have distinguished themselves in the community). The School Coordinator would be responsible for securing a 100 words or less biographical sketch of each person to be placed on the printed program.

This will not be a one year venture, but will be something that is done annually The dinner itself will be interracial, but the nominees will all be African Americans. The price of banquet tickets will be as reasonable as possible, but at the same time, the affair will be held in a very respectable place.

All remaining funds will be placed in a scholarship pool where each of the five former high schools, on the basis of tickets sold, will select someone from that area to be awarded a scholarship
